The popular Vallarta Wine Fest celebrates the love of wine, wine culture and good food every year in early spring. This was yet another successful edition of the outdoor festival, which took place in the Lazaro Cardenas plaza in the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta.
It was a great time for Mexican and foreign tourists as well as locals to sample various wines and gourmet canapés. Although there were no cues as expected, the tastings were enchanting for everyone present. The event organizers, Agustín Rodríguez, Luis Angarita and Nacho Cadena, strolled among the attendees making sure that everything was smooth sailing.
The concept was very simple; guests bought tickets to redeem and a glass to use for their tastings. Real crystal glasses had a cost of $30 pesos and could be taken home, while the plastic wine glasses were just $10 pesos. The canapés and wine were between $10 and $20 pesos; participating restaurants offered lasagna, ceviche tostadas, shrimp, cheeses and more. There were also white, red, sweet, domestic and international wines to choose from.
The area was enlivened by music and everyone was able to stroll to the rhythm while deciding on their next tasting. We asked several tourists what they thought and they agreed that the event was the perfect complement to Puerto Vallarta’s natural beauty. They went on to say that the prices were very reasonable and it was all very picturesque.
As night fell more and more people arrived; attracted by the crowd, music and dancing they came closer to see what it was all about. It was impossible not to go and see what had happened; the food was gone but there were groups of friends drinking wine and talking on the plaza; all in a beautiful, relaxed tropical ambiance.
