The Vallarta Wine Fest
Translated by Nyima Bieber
Vallarta-Nayarit’s culinary offerings are world-class, and the various gourmet events in the area allow its cuisine to really take center stage. The Vallarta Wine Fest, organized by its own committee composed by Nacho Cadena, Luis Reyes Brambilia, Luis Angarita, Agustín Rodríguez, Alejandro Rodríguez and Mónica Díaz, seeks to promote the region as an artistic enclave; with the help of citizen participation, the idea is to encourage and strengthen the culinary culture.
Every year the Wine Fest invites a different guest country to celebrate its history, its winemaking experience and the wine produced in that area. To create a complete experience sommeliers are also invited to share their knowledge with all attendees. The sommeliers are from various parts of the Mexican Republic and they bring with them fascinating histories, guaranteeing a unique and unforgettable experience.
The winemaking tradition is not only confined to wine tasting- there is a strong correlation between culture and wine. The event organizers understand this well, which is why in the program also includes a number of free cultural activities in different places in the city. Some examples are: poetry readings, theater, art expositions, live music and dance performances.
The Vallarta Wine Fest will feature different hosts for wine tastings and pairing events; these are organized in major restaurants and hotels in the Bay of Banderas. Some restaurants that have participated in the festival in the past are La Dolce Vita, Porto Bello Bistro, La Leche Almacén and Café des Artistes.
More information on the festival’s restaurants, hotels and activities will soon be released. Click on http://winefest.mx/index.html to keep up on the latest info.
