Surf in Sayulita

Sayulita today is no longer a slow paced fishing village, but an internationally renowned surfing mecca north of PV. More and more families are becoming interested in learning how to surf together… including the kids! If you´ve never tried surfing, take a one-day trip and learn from the real pro´s in Sayulita; prices range from about US$50 for group lessons (1-3 persons) to US$75 for a private lesson of 1 ½ hours, all equipment included. If you are an experienced surfer, you can rent surf and boogie boards at a number of places; you may want to bring a neoprene rash guard for the wind, but a wet suit is never needed, ocean water rarely dips below 74°F even during winter months. Except for major holidays like Easter and Christmas vacations, Sayulita is quite a peaceful, carefree village with plenty of restaurants and some trendy shops. However, there are no banks nor ATM machines and very few places take credit cards, so be sure to bring cash. From Vallarta you can take a cab to Sayulita (it will cost between US$30 and US$45) or take a long, leisurely ride on the public bus for only a couple of bucks.
