Going on vacation and not knowing exactly what places visit… Does this sounds familiar? If your answer is yes, then I’m not the only one. To make your life easier, I chose some establishments that I have visited, where I found delicious food, excellent drinks and good atmosphere, the perfect combination!
Let’s take the tour. It begins in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and ends in the romantic zone of Puerto Vallarta:
Tacos on the Street
First stop: the specialty of Mexico, tacos. If you are in Riviera Nayarit, you must go to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle where you will find the best tacos of the zone, with different types of salsa and of course, you can’t miss a delicious guacamole. Don’t forget the dessert, the homemade custard.
La Negra
This place is super relaxing. Located in Bucerías, every night there’s a DJ that makes all people have fun. Find a variety of food; I recommend you the sashimi. Also, you will be able to drink different types of artisanal beer.
De Santos
We arrive to Puerto Vallarta, and we start in the Marina. The owner of this place is a renowned musician in Mexico: Alex, the drummer of Maná, a famous Mexican band. You will find wood-fire pizzas and good red wines. You can spend a great moment in company of your friends as well as amazing restaurants and a bars.
Benitto’s
Walking only a few meters from De Santos, you will find Bennito’s Paninoteca Bar. There is nothing like enjoying live music and thematic nights like “Miércoles de Princesas” (Wednesdays for princesses) with free cocktails, or Fridays “Coquetos”, with wine and fondue.
La Federal
Some steps away from Bennito’s, it is located La Federal. Here you can taste a wide variety of Mexican food such as guacamole with totopos, sopes, tacos, tortilla soup and international and national drinks. This restaurant has a “cantina” style but is classy at the same time.
Abolengo
From the Marina zone we move to Fluvial, directly to Abolengo; what a good party! If you like mariachi, here you can enjoy it to the maximum.
Florios, Fluvial
There are two establishments of Florios, but I recommend you the one that is located in Fluvial. Delicious wood-fire pizzas with an authentic Italian-Argentinian flavor, fresh potatoes, bread with chorizo, and of course, good wines.
La Madalena
Next to Stana Night Club it is located La Madalena, a new place. Fun and quality are guaranteed; the food is delicious and the great attraction is the mezcal shot with scorpion. You must taste it!
La Bodeguita del Medio
Now we are going to the malecon. This place has a good atmosphere where you can spend an excellent time. The mojitos are the specialty.
Jazz Foundations
Also located in the malecon. Lovers of the jazz music will enjoy fantastic interpretations of this genre. The food is extraordinary and the live music is exceptional.
Sí Señor
Move some blocks from the Malecon, and go to this restaurant where you can contemplate an incredible view. It is located near the mountains… Nothing like Mexican food!
Bar Morelos
Some blocks from the malecon you will find Morelos Bar, perfect for the “precopa” or enjoying some drinks before partying all night. I can’t forget the mazapán martini (walnut Mexican sweet martini)… it was simply delicious. While you spend a good time, you’ll enjoy delicious pizzas or chicken wings.
Murphy’s
This is an Irish pub where you will have fun while you see the best sports events in your TV. There is exquisite food, live music, incredible views and even a pool table to play with your friends.
El Patio de mi Casa
Walk by Guerrero street and you’ll find El Patio de mi Casa. I love this place because they always have a wide variety of bands playing live music, jazz most of the times. Enjoy pizzas, salads and tarts with a good drink.
Los Muertos Brewing
There are two; one is located in Francisco Villa Avenue, and the other one at Olas Altas, on Lázaro Cárdenas street. They have the “Happy Hour” daily from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It offers a variety of dishes including pizza, burgers and desserts.
Hacienda Alemana
We walk some meters from the Basilio Badillo street and we found this restaurant with an incredible menu for all food lovers, including the vegetarians. It is open to enjoy lunch and dinner. The have daily promotions! If you’re going in bicycle or motorcycle, you’ll get 20% percent in your final bill on Thursdays and Fridays.
116 Pulpito
To end the tour, we walked a little more to Púlpito street, near the famous Los Muertos Pier. On Tuesdays, enjoy 2×1 on margaritas and Wednesdays 2×1 on mojitos. Do you imagine these promotions with a delicious shrimp slider or a squid pizza?
