When someone asks me for a hotel recommendation for a vacation in Mexico, my go-to suggestion is always Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit.

Christmas vacations are generally insane, so I wanted a family trip where I didn’t have to worry about anything. To my surprise, I found a place that went above and beyond, where my whole family felt more than spoiled.

If there is anything that makes the difference between so numerous hotels are the small details and the personalized attention they give you before arriving. Small things like learning if my children have allergies or what type of pillows I prefer. The delicious welcome cocktail and a Christmas kit for children to entertain them while we check-in, just makes you fall in love from the beginning.

Although all the staff was amazing, someone who won my heart was my Concierge José Manuel. He was very attentive at all times, who soon enough became like another member of the family. José booked us incredible couples’ Spa massages and delicious dinners in each of the restaurants, one of which my husband was fascinated by, Sen Lin, the Asian restaurant they had just opened. Being an Italian cuisine lover, I have to say my favorite was Lucca, though this was unlike any other I had sampled before; I completely fell in love.

Although I loved every minute of this indulgement, as a mom what I cherish the most is seeing the joy of my little Paola and Daniel. Every space staged a fascinating world for them, the pool, everything they did in the Kids’ Club and what was most astounding were all the activities they organize: Christmas tours and activities, spectacular shows, Santa’s arrival at the resort beach on a parachute! And a special New Year’s dinner, an impressive gala of Wonderland.

Our Christmas on the beach was more than a vacation, but a family gift that I will share again this year.
