Paradise Awaits at the Secret Puerto Vallarta Beach of Colomitos
Everyone envisions themselves alone on a tropical beach with the one they love. Less than an hour south of PV, Playa Colomitos is just about as close as you can get, with 100ft of untouched golden sand, warm water, & some of the best food in the Bay.
The Best-Kept “Secret” Puerto Vallarta Beach – Playa Colomitos
There’s a reason you probably haven’t heard of the secluded, practically untouched reprieve known as Playa Colomitos. It’s because everyone who knows about it wants to keep it a secret, as if it’s their very own private cove south of Puerto Vallarta. Beaches don’t get any better than this, less than 100 feet of golden sand on emerald waters, hidden away where only boats and in-the-know hikers can venture. If you’ve got romance, rest, or unspoiled recreation on your mind, this is the place for you.
Finding Your Own Private Paradise
Expect a short, two-part journey to Colomitos Beach, starting with a 30-minute drive, bus (catch it at Basillo Badillo and Constitución), or water taxi ride from Marina Vallarta, 11 miles south to the fishing village of Boca de Tomatlán. From there, you can ask local water to drop you off at Colomitos, or tighten up your laces for a scenic half-hour hike through the jungle.
An Untouched Wonderland of Hiking & Snorkeling
One of the best things about making the trip to Playa Colomitos truly is the hike in, relatively easy, rife with exotic wildlife and rustic bridges over the Horcones River. Expect a rainbow of fluttering butterflies, migratory birds, sunbathing iguanas, and a symphony of colorful flowering plant life. Of course, all this eye candy continues the minute you enter the water, as snorkeling here is some of the best in Banderas Bay.
Intimate Dining Over the Water at Ocean Grill
After all that adventure, sometime during your quiet cove getaway you’re going to want to eat lunch. Luckily your only option is considered by many to be the best eatery on the south coast of Banderas Bay. Perched on stilts high over the water, Ocean Grill Restaurant & Beach Club welcomes diners ages 14 and up, Wednesday-Monday, from 11am-5pm. Online Reservations are highly recommended so you don’t miss out on classics like their Catch of the Day Ceviche, Smoked Marlin Tostadas, Grilled Octopus, & BBQ Ribs.
