2016 International Gourmet Festival in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit
The 22nd annual International Gourmet Festival is about to begin! From November 11th-20th, Vallarta Nayarit is hosting this grand gastronomic showcase where numerous hotels and cooking establishments put on events featuring special guest chefs from different countries around the world.
The festival starts with the Grand Gourmet Village, where all the guest chefs will be gathered; it’s the perfect time to meet them, enjoy their creations and admire their culinary skills along with a good wine, tequila or beer. A grand party with orchestra and fireworks!
Among the festival’s guest chefs are Xavier Pérez Stone, guest of Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit resort, Kurt Kretzchmar, guest of Mantamar Beach Club Bar & Grill; Hiroshi Kawahito, guest of the Marriott; Massimo Fongaro, guest of Velas Vallarta; and the ambassador of the Riviera Nayarit, Betty Vázquez, guest of Marival Residences, among others.
Food and Art Fest by Grand Velas
The event that sounds the most interesting to me is the Food and Art Fest, a combination of the culinary arts with Mexican artwork. From November 14th to 16th, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit offers dinners, vegan cuisine, wine, tequila and mezcal tastings and an art gallery.
Kitchen Fiesta
Now in its second year, this culinary fiesta will be held on the 14th with special guests Xavi Pérez Stone (winner of Iron Chef Canada in 2014 and Executive Chef of Cocina de Autor restaurant at Grand Velas Riviera Maya) and Miguel Bautista (Executive Chef of Vegan Planet Mexico). Both will be cooking in real time with guests able to view a live stream of the action on giant screens.
A tasting of the finest wines will be held on the 15th.
The event concludes on the 16th of November, with expert sommeliers leading a tasting of the authentic Mexican spirits tequila and mezcal. The Art Gallery will also present the exhibit “Voices of silver and Stone”, a collection of fine silver pieces created by Rosana Sánchez Arias.
If you would like to attend the event reserve at 1 888 309 5386 or visit Food and Art Fest.
The following events will also be taking place:
- November 12th – Avant-Garde Progressive Dinner, a culinary tour through four restaurants in a row in the city center.
- November 13th – Country Grill Brunch “The Art of Roasting”, a day with Chef Dante Ferrero Houriet and his cuisine. Originally from Argentina, Dante is a master of the kitchen fire, embers and wood oven. Held at La Patrona Polo Club.
- November 14th, 15th and 17th. Three wine pairing workshops and lunches with top chefs.
If you consider yourself a foodie you can’t miss this grand festival. Bon appétit!
