It’s also one of Mexico’s culinary capitals; but what is it about the destination that makes Meeting and Incentive planners hold their events there year after year?
We interviewed Saulo González, Group Sales and Operations Manager at Casa Velas, to find out a little more about why Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit is a favorite destination for both meeting and incentive trips.
In your opinion, what is that organizers of events and conventions find so appealing about the destination?
Well, in addition to the beautiful surroundings, Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit has championship golf courses, a vibrant lifestyle and extraordinary culture and cuisine. This, added to the cutting-edge technology found in so many meeting spaces, and excellent event coordination, makes for an irresistible combination.
What is meetings’ impact on the tourism industry?
In recent years, this segment has moved up in the ranks and now represents one of the highest revenues for the tourism sector. We are talking about 260,000 events organized in 2017 alone, with more than 29 million participants. Considering that Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit is the second most important tourist destinations in Mexico, just after Cancun, the numbers are very impressive.
What’s your greatest satisfaction as a professional Meeting Planner?
The smile of a happy guest; to receive their positive comments and appreciation; that reminds me of the exceptional level of service I must deliver. One of my fondest memories is a recent compliment from a client: “You have something unique, something that sets you apart from the rest. You and your team made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We even forgot for a moment that we were on a business trip.”
And what do you think the differentiator is?
At Casa Velas, we speak the same language as organizers. We have built a solid structure throughout the years, meaning our standards have been perfected; we know what we are doing –all the staff knows the exact procedures for when we receive a group; from the bellboys and housekeepers to the food and beverage staff and Concierge. About 90% of the entire Groups and Conventions team is certified by important organizations, which says a lot about the excellence in planning and logistics we deliver. This makes our work of satisfying guests much easier.
But, I might also add that the warmth and authenticity guests find at the property is the key factor; without a doubt. We surprise them with welcome amenities, haute cuisine comparable to best restaurants in the world; theme soirées like dinners with the chef or Lobster Nights by the sea at the Ocean Club. We go beyond their notion of what a meeting should be.
