PV is world famous for the beauty of its beaches‚ but perhaps not many visitors are aware that the mangrove eco?region of San Blas‚ north of Vallarta‚ is home to an impressive 80% of the Pacific migratory shore bird population. The much anticipated Festival of Migratory Birds takes place January 30 / February 1st so bird enthusiasts are able to see hundreds of magnificent birds in their natural habitat. Among the species that flock to San Blas‚ we should mention the black?bellied tree duck‚ great blue heron‚ roseate spoonbill and endemic birds such as the bumblebee hummingbird and the Mexican Wood Nymph.
