AAA inspectors providing dining ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions in North America indicate the areas of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit (areas use same airport) have exceeded many states in North America in all rating categories. There is a high level of fine dining and local casual experiences in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit ,in comparison to all other destinations Mexico, North America including the Caribbean .
In the category of hotels, these 2 destinations spots, reflect 3 Five Diamond Rated lodgings based in Riviera Nayarit out of a total of 126 in North America.
With the total combination of restaurants and hotels Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit rates very high in all states and destinations in North America including the Caribbean with the most 3, 4 and 5 Diamond lodging and restaurants concentrated in one destination area.

After much lobbing the US State Department for the first time in many years breaks out Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit from other travel advisories to Mexico and indicates there is no travel advisory for this area. The advisory also indicates that it is as safe as most destinations travelers typically visit in United States or Canada or Caribbean.
