Colors, flavors, and creativity: A new way to experience Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is a destination best experienced through all the senses. It’s in the colorful streets, local galleries and workshops, the flavors of its cuisine, and the traditions that continue to shape everyday life.
That mix of art, gastronomy, and culture can also become part of your vacation. At Velas Vallarta and Casa Velas, a new experience invites guests to explore Mexico through creativity: Colores y Sabores: Art of Mexico Workshop.
The idea is simple: discover some of the elements that make Mexico so distinctive, add your own touch of color, and create a keepsake to take home.

Mexico, one canvas at a time
During the workshop, guests receive a canvas tote to personalize with designs inspired by Mexican culture and landscapes.
Available motifs include alebrijes, agave, cacti, and papel picado, along with resort-inspired details such as lotus flowers, koi fish, and bougainvillea.
Using stencils and different color combinations, each guest creates a design of their own. No artistic experience is needed—the idea is simply to experiment, unwind, and let each tote take on its own personality.
The result is a Puerto Vallarta keepsake that doesn’t have to stay in a suitcase. It can become part of your everyday life long after the trip is over.
When art meets Mexican flavors
The experience is called Colores y Sabores for a reason. As guests work on their designs, they can also enjoy a selection of Mexican flavors.
The offering includes regional bites, aguas frescas, Mexican wine, artisanal spirits, cheeses, charcuterie, and other local specialties.
Together, the food and creative elements turn the workshop into more than a painting activity. It’s a relaxed way to discover some of the flavors and visual traditions that are part of Mexican culture.
And in a destination like Puerto Vallarta, where gastronomy is such an important part of the travel experience, it makes sense for the table to be part of the story too.

A different way to discover the destination
Puerto Vallarta is known for its beaches and Pacific coast, but its identity is also deeply connected to art and culture.
From the sculptures along the Malecón to its galleries, markets, and local art, creativity can be found throughout the destination.
Colores y Sabores brings some of these elements into a hands-on experience, allowing visitors to become part of the creative process rather than simply observing from the sidelines.
It’s a great option for travelers looking to add a cultural and relaxed activity to their itinerary, whether they’re traveling with family, as a couple, or with friends.
Two ways to experience it
At Velas Vallarta, the workshop is available for private groups of four or more. Set along the Pacific coast, the resort provides an easy setting for combining the activity with beach days and other experiences in Puerto Vallarta.
At Casa Velas, the adults-only hotel boutique, the workshop is part of the rotating activity schedule and is included in the nightly rate.
The experience can also be incorporated into group and MICE programs at Velas Vallarta as an optional activity.
A souvenir that starts in Puerto Vallarta

One of the best parts of traveling is finding something you can take home without simply buying it.
It might be a photograph, a recipe, a flavor—or, in this case, a tote created during an afternoon of your vacation.
Colores y Sabores turns elements of Mexico into an experience to create, taste, and remember. And perhaps that’s what makes it special: you don’t just take home something you made. You take home the story of how you made it.
Because Puerto Vallarta has many ways of leaving an impression. Some stay in photographs. Others stay in the flavors you remember.
And some can travel home with you.
